County of Ventura, CA Fleet Honored by 100 Best Fleets in the Americas™
NAFA Member Peter Bednar receives honor on behalf of fleet.
Princeton, NJ, May 18, 2016 --(PR.com)-- NAFA is pleased to announce that the County of Ventura, CA fleet, represented by NAFA Member Peter Bednar, Fleet Operations Manager, has taken the top spot in the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas™.
The highly-regarded 100 Best Fleets in the Americas™ award is an independent honor operated by the 100 Best Fleets organization via its founder Tom Johnson. NAFA provides an opportunity for the organization to present the award during the annual conference, the Institute & Expo which was held this past April in Austin, Texas.
The County of Ventura fleet became sustainability-accredited via NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program in mid-December, 2015.
Peter Bednar has more than 27 years of expertise in management and leadership responsibilities in fleet, facilities, manufacturing, and operations management. He has served as a Chapter Leader for NAFA's Puget Sound Chapter from 2004 to 2007 and has been a part of NAFA's National Public Safety Group.
According to 100 Best Fleets, the County of Ventura fleet was recognized specifically for, "...peer-to-peer meetings resulting in ideas that saved $350,000 annually to include up fitting of vehicles. Six Sigma process design saved $20,485.00 in addition to reducing labor hours and parts by $7000.00 per vehicle. Overtime was reduced by $42,336.00." Further, "...the year-to-year savings to the County from the Fleet Department was $2,083,113. Greenhouse gasses were reduced by 866 metric tons with alternative fuels. Customer satisfaction scores were 100 percent for the year."
The 100 Best Fleets program was developed by Johnson to “shine a light” on all the good things fleet managers do and "educate up-the-ladder" so their supervisors and taxpayers understand the value that fleet provides on a daily basis. The contest requires the demonstration of 12 criteria that are considered universal drivers of change and excellence in fleet operations. Various fleet professionals act as judges for the 100 Best Fleets contest.
The top five in the 2016 100 Best Fleets in the Americas™ rankings is:
1 County of Ventura, CA
2 DeKalb County (GA)
3 Wake County Government (NC)
4 City & County of Denver, CO

NAFA congratulates Peter Bednar and all the NAFA Members whose fleets were honored this year by the 100 Best Fleets organization.
