Boston Globe Magazine Names Marlborough Among 2016 Game Changers
City of Marlborough is the only Massachusetts community honored by the Globe's list
Marlborough, MA, May 18, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Boston Globe Magazine has named the City of Marlborough among its 2016 Game Changers.
Marlborough is the only Massachusetts community on the list, which consists of 46 “innovators”—people and organizations from all walks of life—that, according to the Globe, “had the vision, leadership, and determination to make a difference.”
The Boston Globe’s real estate and development reporter, Tim Logan, wrote the Marlborough article, titled “Bouncing Back Big In The Western Burbs.”
“Whoever said the outer suburbs were over must have forgotten to tell Marlborough,” Logan writes. "The city… is enjoying an economic renaissance.”
Logan goes on to list some of Marlborough’s major recent achievements, such as attracting “a string of leading tech and corporate tenants,” creating 5,000 jobs since 2012, and paving the way for large commercial developments, including the recently-announced 43-acre APEX Center.
“I’m proud of all the hard work we have done over the past few years to keep Marlborough moving forward,” said Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant. “Marlborough has always been a wonderful place to live and great new things have been happening here, including the creation of thousands of new jobs and the revitalization of parks and playgrounds across the city. This recognition by the Globe is a well-deserved honor for all those who work every day to make Marlborough what it is and what it can be.”
“This is not just a great recognition for the city, but also for the people and organizations that have made its success possible,” said MEDC Executive Director Tim Cummings. “More importantly, this reaffirms my belief that Marlborough’s achievements over the past four years have laid a solid foundation for the city’s long-term prosperity. I am proud and honored to be a part of Marlborough’s winning team.”
