Lutheran Services in America Joins Grantmakers in Aging
Washington, DC, May 18, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Lutheran Services in America, Incorporated (LSA) has joined Grantmakers In Aging (GIA) as an associate member, aligning two national organizations dedicated to improving the lives of seniors in the U.S.
“Lutherans are the largest faith-based group serving seniors today and we are honored to have been invited to join Grantmakers In Aging,” said Charlotte Haberaecker, President and CEO of LSA. “Two-thirds of our members are actively involved in providing services to seniors, and the opportunity to work with GIA will help us expand our crucial work.”
Grantmakers In Aging is the only international professional organization of grantmakers active in the field. The group is dedicated to promoting and strengthening grantmaking for an aging society by providing members with a personal connection to key people, high-quality resources, and state-of-the art ideas about aging and all issues related to aging. Members have a shared recognition that a society that is better for older adults is a society that is better for people of all ages.
“LSA’s expansive network and committed membership are making a huge impact for seniors today,” said John Feather, Ph.D., CEO of GIA. “Working together, our organizations have the opportunity to touch and enrich even more lives.”
LSA will also participate on the advisory committee for GIA’s rural aging network project. Rural areas are home to a higher proportion of older residents than suburban and urban areas, and through this three-year project, Grantmakers In Aging members will connect and support key groups working to provide services in these areas.
Today, the LSA network reaches 1 in 50 people in the United States each year, and our Lutheran social ministry members help seniors live a higher quality, more abundant life through services such as home and community-based care; residential and healthcare services; chaplaincy services; and financial support.
