Steve Walker Releases New Book That Provides a Map to Spiritual Maturity
Dog Ear Publishing reviews a book that guides readers to determine their path in life with God’s help, achieving full growth and maturity.
Roseburg, OR, May 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- They say that a journey starts with a single step, but life journeys also start with a single decision that determines a destination. Travelers on the path of life have a new map for their journey, thanks to a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing. In that book, Steve Walker – a pastor with decades of experience – shares the importance of living an intentional life.
“The Way: Twelve Essential Questions for the Path of Life” features a dozen evaluative questions to help readers determine where they are right now and where they need to head next. The provocative questions range from foundational ones that probe a person’s belief in a god and his response to Jesus, to others challenging him to recognize and stand against evil, and form close, authentic Christian relationships.
One chapter involves the intriguing phrase “contagious Christian” and whether someone has caught the bug to spread the news about Jesus. One step in the right direction is to release one’s fear of failure, recognize a lack of time as a problem with priorities and take charge, praying for the lost, behaving distinctly as a Christian, relying on God’s Spirit and speaking boldly but with sensitivity.
Each chapter concludes with what he calls landmarks: convictions forged, skills learned, habits formed and decisions made, followed by a list of questions intended help the reader evaluate his present position. Scripture mingles freely with engaging stories and mental exercises that ably point to the author’s ultimate goal: Helping others recognize the importance of an intentional life lived to serve the glory of God.
Author Steve Walker is lead pastor of Redeemer’s Fellowship in Roseburg, where he has served since 1990. He also has experience in pastoral roles and as an adjunct professor at Bethel Seminary in San Diego and Western Seminary in Portland. Walker, who was born and raised in Roseburg, received a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, a master’s degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a doctorate in ministry from Western Seminary. He and his wife, Barb, have two children and one granddaughter.
