5K Run/Walk for a Better Us to Support The Gateway Family YMCA
Generosity Series Fundraiser to Support YMCA Financial Assistance.
Clark, NJ, May 23, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA is inviting the community to support their cause at a Fundraiser 5K Run/Walk hosted by Generosity Series, on Sunday, June 5 in Oak Ridge Park - 136 Oak Ridge Rd, Clark, NJ 07066. “We are excited to be participating in our first Generosity Series Walk/Run. Registration for the 2016 Generosity New Jersey 5K run walk is open, and we’re inviting you to join us for the most heart-warming morning in June,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO, The Gateway Family YMCA. “Members of our local community can help support their neighbors by participating or supporting the event, which is a fundraiser for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign.”
The 5K event is part of the Generosity Series and will include other local non-profit organizations as well as The Gateway Family YMCA. Registration is $20 per person and each participant commits to raising a minimum of $200 for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, to directly benefit Financial Assistance for members of the local community.
“This is a great opportunity to get your friends and family together to support a cause you care about,” stated Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO. “We will support our participants in their fundraising efforts by providing tools and a web page where they can tell their personal Y story and collect donations to support our cause.”
Dedicated to building a healthy community, The Gateway Family YMCA provides free Diabetes screening programs, a Diabetes Prevention Program and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free program for cancer survivors. In 2015, many charitable gifts from YMCA donors helped to make it possible for 1,200 children to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; 1,000 children to experience lasting memories and friendship in summer camp, 2,800 to learn safety and confidence in swim lessons, for 24,000 members to reconnect and grow together as a family, for 680 people in need to gain a support system and a place to live; and countless others to access education and training to reach their full potential. The Gateway Family YMCA provided over $690,000 in financial assistance for programs, services and membership in 2015.
In addition to the 5K Run/Walk, the YMCA will be kicking off a seasonal raffle at the event, including big-ticket prizes, all to support the Annual Support Campaign. “Everyone is invited to cheer on our members, staff and supporters as they participate in the 5K, and celebrate together after,” added Danielle Cioffi, District Executive Director.
