New Children’s Book Celebrating Gender Fluidity Live on Kickstarter: "I’m Jay, Let’s Play": Written by Beth Reichmuth and Illustrated by Nomy Lamm

I’m Jay, Let’s Play is a new children’s book celebrating gender fluidity through a playful story about one child’s morning at preschool with friends. "I'm Jay, Let's Play," portrays children outside of the gender binary. It portrays gender exploration being normal and fun, rather than a source of conflict.

San Francisco, CA, May 26, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The book is authored by Beth Reichmuth, a preschool teacher in San Francisco. The illustrator, Nomy Lamm, lives in Olympia, Washington and is a musician, activist and artist.

Author Beth Reichmuth has launched a Kickstarter to fund the completion of the illustrations, the book design process, and printing and distribution. The Kickstarter for this project has a goal of raising $10,000 in thirty days and will be live from May 8th, 2016 through June 7th, 2016.

I’m Jay, Let’s Play aims to fill a gap in the current market of books for young children. Nearly all children’s books that address gender diversity also address the teasing and bullying that gender nonconforming kids often face. The characters in I’m Jay, Let’s Play are inclusive and excited during their busy morning together playing in their classroom.

This story models gender-fluidity by reflecting diverse clothing, hairstyles and play choices, and entirely omitting gendered pronouns. With so much conflict in mainstream media about transgender rights, I’m Jay, Let’s Play, offers a children and families a respite by allowing transgender and gender-nonconforming children to see themselves positively reflected in a familiar environment.

If the Kickstarter campaign fundraising goal for I’m Jay, Let’s Play is successfully met by June 7th, 2016, fulfillment/distribution will begin April 2017.

I’m Jay, Let’s Play can be pre-ordered now for $25 per copy through the Kickstarter project page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1091912122/im-jay-lets-play
