Eastern University Tries to Breed Altruism Through Non Profit Management Degree Program and Lecture

Eastern University has created a new MicroSite for their non profit management degree program in support of their annual lecture and non profit excellence award as part an attempt to increase interest in non profit work.

St. Davids, PA, February 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Eastern University wants to convince more people to help others, and through a non profit management degree program, hopes to build support for the non profit community.

The college believes that having more non profit management professionals will lead to a more altruistic world, so it is trying to promote the industry through the lecture, an annual SEI Investments non profit excellence award and a state-of-the-art website for its non profit management degree program.

Created with the help of EDU Internet Strategies, http://www.nonprofitdegree.com/ is a MicroSite aimed at drawing prospective graduate students into the non profit management world.

The site is a completely self-enclosed subsidiary of Eastern University’s main page that has its own frequently asked questions, course lists, admissions requirements and online applications. The non profit management degree program is offered in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, PA and Washington D.C., and is designed, according to the website, in response to the needs faced by the non profit sector today.

"We created Eastern University’s MicroSite with current best practices in mind," says Rick Simmons, Business Development Manager for EDU Internet Strategies. “The best way to find students interested in the non profit sector is to be highly visible with a website that appeals to their modern mentalities, and our research showed an increase in people looking for programs like the ones being offered at Eastern.”

In addition to this new MicroSite, Eastern University runs a lecture program on topics such as “Striving for an Ethic of Excellence in the Non profit Sector” that provides non profit community leaders with an opportunity to speak on issues or dilemmas affecting society, and to propose possible solutions. The program is open to students, faculty and members of the non profit community. The Eastern University Non profit Lecture Series also provides the community a forum to honor quality in the sector though the SEI Excellence in Non profit Management award.

This award includes a $5,000 grant funded by the SEI Investments and Eastern University and is given each year to a non profit organization that displays excellence in program innovation, strong leadership, evidence of measurable impacts upon the community and strong financial management.

According to Pete Berol, Interim Director of the Masters in non profit management degree program at Eastern University; “The degree program is for leaders who are motivated by service to the community. The goal of the program is to help non profit leaders get a solid management foundation so their organizations can develop creative, real world solutions to significant real world problems. The MicroSite by EDU Internet Strategies is a key component in the process of getting the word out about our Non Profit Masters Degree ”

Eastern University hopes that these new innovations will convince people to enroll in their non profit management degree program or others like it and will use the knowledge they gain to help create a more altruistic world.
