Jiri makes his home in Oakville, Ontario and earned a Master degree in Life Science from the University of Toronto. Astris Energi was founded over twenty four years ago in 1983 by Jiri Nor, he also helped develop the very first working alkaline fuel cell (AFC) in Canada while attending the University of Toronto's Institute for Hydrogen Systems. Three years later, he raised private capital to acquire the assets of the Institute, including alkaline fuel cell (AFC) intellectual property. Jiri’s areas of expertise include fuel cells specialist and engineering.

In recognition of his social responsibilities, Jiri donates to various charitable organizations including the local Catholic Church.
