Chris Carneal Honored with President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award

Atlanta, GA, June 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition has selected Chris Carneal, founder and president at Booster, to receive a 2016 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award. The award is given annually to individuals or organizations who improve the lives of others within their community by providing or enhancing opportunities to engage in sports, physical activities, fitness and nutrition-related programs.

This school year, Carneal is leading the Boosterthon Fun Run and its 400-plus member team to serve more than 1 million elementary students in 1,600 schools across America. Since the company’s inception in 2001, students participating in the Boosterthon Fun Run have run a combined 6.8 million miles and raised more than $150 million for elementary schools in U.S. Carneal continues to champion fitness, leadership and character principles throughout the program and encourage students to make healthy choices every day.

“Chris Carneal and the entire Booster team has worked to consistently promote opportunities for individuals to lead healthy lifestyles through physical activity and/or healthy nutrition,” says Shellie Pfohl, Executive Director of the Office of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. “Because of Chris Carneal and Booster’s efforts and contributions, the entire country can embrace a more active lifestyle. Together, we are all working to make our nation a healthier one by helping individuals across the nation live vibrant, vivacious, and productive lives.”

“Chris is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met. He’s combined his skills as an entrepreneur with contagious enthusiasm to create an enduring organization that’s had a massive influence on student wellness across America,” said Brett Trapp, VP of Client Experience at Booster. “Chris keeps us focused on what matters, constantly reminding us that our mission is to strengthen schools with additional funding and inspire students to live healthier lives."

This year, in honor of its 60th Anniversary, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition presented the Community Leadership Award to 60 recipients across the country for making sports, physical activity, fitness, and nutrition-related programs available in their communities.
