Music for Veterans Program Connects Veterans from Around the World Through Music
Kickstarter project brings together Veterans from around the globe who write and play music through a compilation album called "Back Home: A Veterans Album." This album will showcase these Veterans, some incredible musicians, who are contributing their music to help expand the great work og the Music for Veterans program.
Erie, PA, June 19, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Kickstarter Campaign Connects Veterans through Music.
“After 5 years of providing a program that addresses the issues that Military personnel encounter transitioning to civilian life, we decided to expand our mission and our reach,” says Director Vinny Stefanelli.
Recent studies show that playing a musical instrument creates dramatic improvements in mood and long-term happiness because it totally engages a person physically, mentally and emotionally and allows them to forget their pain without drugs, alcohol, or other destructive habits.
“The program was founded on a personal love of music and great respect for those who selflessly dedicated their lives to our country and for some Veterans, this is the only means of emotional support that they have,” Stefanelli continued.
Music is just one part of the Music for Veterans formula. An strong sense of Camaraderie with Veterans adds to the healing process and dramatically improves their quality of life.
While connecting with Veterans around the world, Music for Veterans found a wealth of musical talent and a great collection of songs, and set a goal to create a virtual community where Veterans can share their music, communicate and build relationships with other Veterans who have a mutual love for music.
To achieve that goal, they launched a Kickstarter Campaign with the assistance of retired US Army Officer, Kris Wheaton, an associate professor of intelligence studies at Mercyhurst University who guided them through the Kickstarter process.
With the success of the campaign, songs will be selected from the collection to create a Music for Veterans Album, a professionally produced selection of veteran songs that will be made available to the public. All rights to the music will remain with the Veterans but the proceeds from the album will help to grow the Music for Veterans program.
Additional goals include creating a series of asynchronistic videos of Veterans from around the world playing songs together - a fun, yet powerful demonstration of the musical talents and the camaraderie of the Veteran community. "What’s more perfect than offering a group of men and women who served in the military the opportunity to come together in Peace through Music?" asked Stefanelli.
