Reina Schiffrin, President/CEO of Planned Parenthoo Hudson Peconic, received the Ruth Green Award.
Hawthorne, NY, June 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Reina Schiffrin, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP) received the Ruth Green Award from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). Established in 1981, this national award is given to a Planned Parenthood affiliate chief executive for outstanding leadership with board volunteers, public affairs, and fundraising. It is one of the highest honors given to Planned Parenthood CEOs for their work in carrying out the mission of Planned Parenthood.
Reina Schiffrin began working at PPHP in 1998 as the Chief Operating Officer and was appointed President/CEO in 2002. During her tenure, PPHP has completed successful capital campaigns, overseen the building and relocation of four health centers (with a fifth one in progress), implemented an electronic health records system, created a centralized Call Center, launched two mobile education and testing vans called SmartWheels, and significantly expanded the work of the affiliate’s advocacy arm, among numerous other achievements.
Upon accepting the award, Ms. Schiffrin said, “Looking back, I have been able to lead, develop, and grow our affiliate to expand our services and double our reach and budget only because of the support of PPFA, my CEO colleagues (especially from NY), the Board, thousands of volunteers, and most importantly the dedicated and unflappable staff at PPHP. They are the backbone of the affiliate, working each and every day in our health centers, out in the community, in the halls of the Capitol in Albany, and in many other spaces to provide the highest quality of health care services and education programs to over 60,000 people a year.”
The Ruth Green Award has been established as one of the most prestigious awards at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Ruth Green determined the criteria of the award before passing away. Each recipient of the award is nominated by her or his board of directors and selected by a committee of previous award winners.
