The Cockroach Catcher: Bauhinia Press Publishes Unusual Book on the Fictionalized Life of a Child Psychiatrist
Bauhinia Press is excited to announce the publication of "The Cockroach Catcher," a debut work of fiction by Am Ang Zhang on the life and experience of a Chinese child psychiatrist practising in England -- a first of its kind. Am Ang's cases range from simple childhood toilet and sleep problems to anorexia nervosa, abuse and psychosis. There are also cases of “entrepreneurs” in the making, and cases that turn out not to be psychiatric at all.
New York, NY, January 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- "The Cockroach Catcher" is a debut work of fiction, based on the central character of Am Ang Zhang, who was born in the South West Chinese province of Yunnan just as the Second World War was ending. He was educated in Hong Kong and later became an eminent Child Psychiatrist half way round the world in England. After thirty years of clinical practice he felt compelled to tell his stories as he had his doubts on the validity of some of the assertions of the medical world.
The Cockroach Catcher contains Am Ang’s personal view of the human psyche. Cases range from simple childhood toilet and sleep problems to anorexia nervosa, abuse and psychosis. There are also cases of “entrepreneurs” in the making, and cases that turn out not to be psychiatric at all. The Cockroach Catcher provides a glimpse of this world through one specialist’s eyes and will be of interest to health care practitioners and the general public.
“I just have these fascinating stories to tell. Anybody can read them. They do not have to be in the medical profession,” said Am Ang.
The Cockroach Catcher (paperback, 454 pages, ISBN 978-0-6151-8628-3) is available from lulu.com at $24.95: http://www.lulu.com/content/1772066
Some reviews posted on Lulu.com:
“Horrah for the doctor. Chapter 1: The Seven Minute Cure. The doctor overcame the obstacles faced from the establishment and freed a young child from her prison. Great read.”
“Fascinating preview chapter. I can't wait to read more.”
“Thank goodness for doctors like these! If the rest of the book is as good as the preview chapter then it will be a fantastic resource for practitioners and the public.”
