Amy Ziering Hosts The Hunting Ground Sexual Assault Documentary
Emmy Award-Winning Producer Amy Ziering to Host Austin Screening of College Sexual Assault Documentary, The Hunting Ground.

Who: Amy Ziering, an Academy Award®-nominated and two-time Emmy Award®-winning documentary filmmaker; producer of The Hunting Ground. The Hunting Ground premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, inciting heated debates, campus protests, and a probe on universities throughout the country launched by the U.S. Department of Education.
What: The Survive 2 Thrive Foundation will host a screening of The Hunting Ground, and panel discussion with producer, Amy Ziering. The Hunting Ground is a documentary which focuses on the three-year investigation into the rampant phenomenon of college rapes. While Variety is reporting that it is on the short list for an Oscar nomination, it has already won the Producers Guild of America’s 2016 Stanley Kraemer Award and has been nominated for that group’s top documentary award. Since its release by Radius-TWC on Feb. 27, 2016, The Hunting Ground has also been commended for its original song “Til It Happens to You,” written by Lady Gaga and Diane Warren.

Why: Courtney Santana, founder of the hosting organization, Survive 2 Thrive Foundation, said that this was an important film to be shown in Central Texas because there are more than 10 colleges and Universities located in the area. “In 2006 alone,300,000 college women reported being raped, and in 2011, more than 18.000 Texans reported a sexual assault, with more than 1000 of those cases taking place just in Travis and Williamson counties. These are numbers that we just can’t ignore,” Santana stated.
