Omnex Announces ISO 26262 Functional Safety Consortium Pricing and Deliverables
Ann Arbor, MI, June 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Omnex, Inc., the leading innovator of product launch and engineering software solutions, announced on June 6th the creation of an ISO 26262 Functional Safety Consortium. Omnex announced today that the pricing and deliverables for the consortium have been determined. “After discussing the idea with over 100 companies and having detailed conversations with over 20 companies, Omnex believes they have created an extremely viable engagement plan for the consortium,” stated John M. Cachat, Managing Director of Omnex Systems and Executive Sponsor of the ISO 26262 Collaboration Project. “One of the business challenges to be solved is the transition from a document driven approach to a data driven approach with respect to document authoring and management. The other driver is to reduce the costs of developing common work processes by sharing knowledge and expenses across the consortium, for example, conducting controllability tests to provide accurate ASIL values.”
“We have decided to limit the consortium to 10 companies,” said Chad Kymal, founder and CTO of Omnex, “and it is expected to include both OEMs and Suppliers. “We believe that keeping the group small with proven early adopters and innovators will allow a very aggressive 24 month timeline, with a very aggressive plan for immediate deliverables upon joining and ongoing deliverables every 90 days.”
Omnex has defined three specific deliverables for the Consortium members:
1. Help develop internal ISO 26262 Functional Safety competency
2. The collaborative development of best in class work processes
3. Software that supports an integrated management system that will support integrated work products in a distributed development environment.
4. Develop controllability testing for known automotive hazards to reach more accurate ASIL values for safety goals.
