Axalta Racing’s Solar Flare Paint Scheme to Heat Up Sonoma
Glen Mills, PA, July 01, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Axalta Coating Systems is excited to return to the racetrack with its “Solar Flare” paint scheme. Axalta’s radiant paint shines on the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. on June 26, 2016 at Sonoma Raceway. The race aired live on FOX Sports 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Sonoma is the first of two road courses that NASCAR® drivers tackle during the Sprint Cup Series 2016 season. In the heart of relaxing wine country, the Sonoma track is anything but. The two-mile course has 12 turns that require great skill and concentration.
“We used to test really hard to figure out how to get better at road courses. Now we just show up and race and that’s really been refreshing. It’s made the race weekends a lot more enjoyable,” said Earnhardt. “We’ve had great racecars at the road courses and we’ve gotten better as a team, which has helped me a lot and helped carry me. Sonoma is the most challenging track that I race at. We’ve just got to take care of our car and make it through to the end.”
Last season, Earnhardt made his fifth consecutive appearance in the championship-deciding Chase for the NASCAR® Sprint Cup. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is a two-time winner of the prestigious Daytona 500 and has been selected as NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver a record 13 consecutive times.
