Garden Grove, CA, July 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- VAMN-TV launched its first crowdfunding campaign for its current project: Kong’s Journey, based on the 16th Century Chinese classical novel Journey to the West, to raise $250,000 for its pilot episode in 27 days.
VAMN-TV has taken on this enormous project to create original anime-stylization animation series to share with the world the rich stories about Asian mythology, legends and folklore where family members old and young can enjoy together as part of its mission to re-introduce Saturday Morning Cartoons.
The 4-volume book set Journey of the West by Wu Cheng’en is considered one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Sun Wukong (Kong), also known as “The Monkey King,” was born from a stone that was shaped into a monkey by the wind on Mountain of Flowers and Fruits. Kong’s name means “awakened to emptiness” and sometimes translated as “aware of vacuity.” Kong is a mischievous and curious human-like monkey.
The stone was a magic stone that had received powers from the heavens and earth since the beginning of time. Kong sought to become immortal and obtained supernatural powers causing havoc in Heavens. Buddha finally trapped Kong; and Quan Yin made him the Tang Monk’s disciple and bodyguard. The Monk was tasked to journey west to retrieve the sutras from India. On his 7-years journey to collect the scriptures/sutras, Kong alternated between protecting his travel companions and causing mischief. The reward is enlightenment and living in Buddha’s paradise. Kong ultimately achieved enlightenment and becomes a Buddha – obtaining his life-obsession for immortality.
"This is a passion project that I have given considerable thought to the past year,” said Dominique N. Thieu, CEO of VAMN-TV. "We are extremely optimistic about the success of Kong’s Journey and expect the brand to do well worldwide. We plan to produce 4 feature films and a TV series. We are starting with the TV series first. We do have several investors overseas interested in the project and feel that with their support, we will be to produce an amazing animation franchise."
The animated pilot is scheduled for release in June 2017. Please support and follow us on: www.TheMonkeyKingJourney.com. #VAMNtv #TheMonkeyKing @kongsjourney
