Over 1.000 Amateur Cyclists Will Crowd-Source Power Meter Data in Unique Initiative by Team ZWATT
Data will be used to improve power meter algorithms and increase accuracy.
Copenhagen, Denmark, July 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- With over 900 cyclists signed-up, the goal is to collect at least 1.000 testers under the name “Team ZWATT” and create the biggest test team for bicycle power meters.
Over the last three years SENSITIVUS gauge, a Danish start-up, has developed and refined power meter technology for major crank set brands. The purpose has been to lower the price of power meters and to make it possible for bike manufacturers to integrate this technology in their products. To make power meters more useful to amateur cyclists the company decided to create a test team comprising solely of this type of users.
Rolf Østergaard, CEO of SENSITIVUS gauge says, “We have had something of a head start since we launched the test team a few months ago. Even though we mostly spread the news by word of mouth, we are sure we will pass 1.000 members quite soon.”
Watt measurement has been important to pro and amateur riders for years now. However, although power meters are sold mostly to amateur cyclists they are being tested on professionals. This creates a gap between the actual use of power meters that takes away from the amateur user’s experience.
Testers in Team ZWATT will contribute to an accurate understanding of how amateur cyclists ride bikes. This is achieved by involving bikers across the globe and observing different styles of riding on various bike and terrain types.
“Cyclists from all over the world have signed up for this. When you think about the fact that most of these people heard about Team ZWATT from others, it becomes obvious how passionate the community is about cycling and about contributing to the technology they use,” says Rolf Østergaard.
“By crowd-sourcing our data collection, we get a much wider range of data to optimize and improve our algorithms. This is essential to make the best product at the lowest price,” explains Rolf Østergaard.
Sign-ups for Team Zwatt are open on www.teamzwatt.com.
About Sensitivus
Sensitivus is a Danish company that builds bicycle power meter technology for global brands. Bike power (watts) is the best indicator of training load or performance – independent of shape, terrain or wind. This is poised to be the next big thing for bike training after heart rate sensors and has potential to change the industry. Sensitivus’ power meter comes in various form factors making it adaptable to different bike types.
