Loss of Mother to Cancer Prompts New Awareness Ribbon
New awareness ribbon design spells out “Life” to promote the hope and positive approach necessary for fighting deadly diseases like cancer and AIDS.
Tarpon Springs, FL, January 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- People involved in promoting awareness for the cure of the many deadly diseases affecting the world’s population have received a new ally, the Life™ awareness ribbon. The power of the new awareness ribbon comes from both its inspiration and its design. Designed by Victor Kasatshko, the symbol is meant to honor his mother who passed away from pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Kasatshko would drive his mother for treatments for a year and a half after being told by doctors that his mother would not survive her battle with pancreatic cancer. “On each trip we made I saw cars in the parking lot with the magnetic traditional ribbon, after a while, I began to hate the sight of those ribbons”, Mr. Kasatshko states. He adds, “I did not want to remember my Mom in death, I wanted to remember her in life.”
The Life™ awareness ribbon changes the orientation of the traditional ribbon to represent an “L”. The letters I-F-E are added to complete the message. The color of the ribbon can be changed to represent the awareness cause; for example pink for breast cancer, red for AIDS, or gold for pediatric cancer. The powerful message is felt immediately by anyone who is fighting a deadly disease or is involved in finding a cure. Prominent in each message is the additional phrase, DoLife™.
With Life™ and DoLife™, Mr. Kasatshko hopes to change the perception of the ribbon message. “If remembering the loss of a loved one, remember them in Life, if supporting one currently battling a deadly disease, remember they are battling for their Life”.
