Code3 CME, a Career Step Company, to Sponsor Webinar on First Responder Mental Health and Suicide Prevention with the Code Green Campaign
Code3 CME, a Career Step company, is sponsoring the webinar, Calling A Code Alert On Our Mental Health, being presented July 20 by the Code Green Campaign.
Lehi, UT, July 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Code3 CME, a provider of online EMT, paramedic and critical care transport refresher training and a Career Step company, is sponsoring a 1-hour webinar, Calling A Code Alert On Our Mental Health. The webinar will be held July 20 at 2 p.m. Eastern in conjunction with the Code Green Campaign, a first responder oriented mental health advocacy and education organization. The online program is free to attend, will provide attendees one continuing education unit and will be presented by Ann Marie Farina, President of the Code Green Campaign.
“Our fire and EMS providers are facing stress levels that are unprecedented in the public safety profession,” said Judson Smith, founder of Code3 CME and Vice President of Continuing Education at Career Step. “We are seeing a drastic increase in responder suicide and PTSD. With current events, increased workloads, and the emergencies responders see day in and day out, it is easy to see why this stress is taking such a toll. Everyone in the EMS industry needs to be aware of this issue, and we want support resources that help first responders manage their stress, recognize signs of mental health conditions and provide the right assistance.”
During the presentation, Ms. Farina will discuss how to be alert to the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions and how to help someone in crisis. Specific attention will be paid to how leaders can help employees learn resilience and ensure their agencies are active in changing the culture of silence.
“We are very excited for this webinar and grateful for Code3 CME’s sponsorship,” said Ms. Farina. “Our goals with this presentation mirror those of our organization as a whole: to raise awareness to and the impact of the high rates of PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicide among first responders and to provide education for responders on how to provide care for themselves and recognize issues in their peers. We want to reduce the stigma and improve access to mental health care to better serve those who so valiantly serve all of us.”
Code3 CME also offers the first responder audience a number of online instructor-led refresher and continuing education training programs. It is sponsoring the efforts of the Code Green Campaign to support both its students and instructors, who are all actively serving in various EMS positions.
The webinar presentation will be held July 20 at 2 p.m. Eastern time. It is free to attend and open to everyone. Registration is required at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1345393589637390339.
