Fleet Soars to New Heights; Over 50,000 New Users and Climbing
The leading community app for air travelers reaches new heights after being featured on NBC’s Today Show as a great app for getting updates on TSA Security wait times and finding things at the airport.
Washington, DC, July 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- With delays at the airport at an all-time high, traveler frustration has also increased. To address these concerns, Fleet was recently featured by investigative reporter Jeff Rossen on NBC’s Today Show in a segment called “Can free apps really speed you through airport security?”

Response to the broadcast was tremendous. Since the piece aired, the Fleet app has been downloaded over 50,000 times, and continues to keep growing. Fleet reached the #4 spot in the Apple App Store in the free travel apps category, and broke the 100 apps overall the day of the report.
“We’re thrilled to see so many new travelers using Fleet,” said Fleet CEO Dan Gartenberg, PhD. “Our community-generated updates about airport conditions works best when more people are contributing, and we’ve seen a lot of great feedback about how Fleet has helped improve the airport travel experience.”
One Fleet user reports: “I was able to see that the airport wasn't too busy, so I got to spend a few more minutes with my family and head to the airport a little bit later than I normally would. It's a really helpful app and I've found it to be quite accurate.” Another traveler reports: “I used to get so anxious and worried about lines at security gates. Fleet has taken away so much stress and worry about going to the airport.”
“Reducing traveler anxiety was our goal in creating Fleet,” said Melissa Smith, PhD, Fleet’s Chief Operating Officer. “The entire team is excited to see it helping so many travelers have a better experience at the airport!”
With all the new users there were also a lot of feedback and suggestions. The most common question received was from people looking for an Android version of the app, along with a lot of suggestions for airports to add to Fleet’s continually growing directory of airport businesses.
“An Android version of the Fleet app is in the works,” says Fleet Chief Digital Officer Jordan Higgins. “We’ve had a flood of suggestions in the past week, and the team is working to take everything in and work in to our product road map. There are a lot of exciting things to come.”
Fleet is available as a free download in the Apple App store.
