Keep Irving Beautiful Supports Year-Round Litter Abatement
Irving, TX, July 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) works to instill community pride through educating and engaging volunteers in the focus areas of litter abatement, beautification and recycling. KIB is asking all Irving residents and visitors to show that community pride by making a positive difference in their daily lives, particularly when it comes to litter. There are a number of ways they can do this:
· Participating in organized cleanups – KIB sponsors two large-scale cleanups, the Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off in the spring and the upcoming 25th annual Trash Bash on September 24 – but also a number of smaller scale cleanups throughout the year with companies or faith, civic, neighborhood and school groups.
· Joining the Adopt-a-Spot program by adopting an area and pledging to maintain it for a year and report your results to KIB. There are currently 70 active locations in all parts of the city, with several areas available for adoption. Organizations or families and individuals are welcome.
· Making a commitment to pick up litter anytime you see it, showing others what good environmental stewardship should be.
A 40-year resident of Irving makes a point to pick up any litter in areas he visits frequently, including the beautiful South Irving Library parking lot and beds. “If we all would treat the areas arounds us as our parks, we would enjoy a cleaner and more pleasing city.” Wishing to remain anonymous, he added, “If we want sparkling public spaces - and private ones, too - then litter has to go…into the trash bins. Put litter in its place!”
Keep Irving Beautiful is a non-profit, grassroots, leadership organization dedicated to educating our community about litter abatement, recycling, and beautification in order to help preserve the health and promote the social and economic prosperity of our city.
