Source Molecular Completes Pre-Assessment for ISO 17025

Source Molecular Corporation is now a step closer to becoming the world’s only ISO 17025-accredited microbial source tracking (MST) laboratory.

Miami, FL, July 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Source Molecular recently completed its pre-assessment with The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), an accreditation body for obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation.

A2LA, which will conduct the assessment, is the largest and most experienced multi-disciplinary laboratory accreditation organization in the United States. It is a non-profit, independent, third party accrediting body and it has been accrediting life science testing laboratories to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and its precursors for over 30 years.

Source Molecular’s laboratory expects to finish the assessment very soon. Biological testing laboratories are assessed against the general criteria found in ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories.

According to the International Organization for Standardization, ISO/IEC 17025:2005 specifies the general requirements for laboratories to carry out tests and/or calibrations. It covers testing and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is for use by laboratories in developing their management system for quality, administrative and technical operations.

Source Molecular is composed of a team of scientists and business professionals with expertise in genetic and molecular sciences. In its pursuit of excellence, Source Molecular secured a license from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allowing it to use the MST technology the EPA developed and patented.
