United Alliance Services Awarded Training Bid for Massachusetts Maritime Academy
United Alliance Services is a woman owned (WBE certified) small business in Wareham that has been providing critical safety training to freshman cadets at Massachusetts Maritime Academy for four years, and just won a contract for the next three years. The primary instructor on the MMA contract is Megan Savage, an alumni of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and native of Wareham.
Buzzards Bay, MA, July 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- United Alliance Services (UASC) was notified that the company has been selected again this year to be the safety training provider for Freshman Cadets at Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). This is a three-year contract.
For the past four years, UASC instructors have provided essential safety information to Freshman cadets (or 4th class as they are called at MMA) aboard the T.S. Kennedy.

So far, as part of this ongoing partnership with the college, UASC has taught over 1,400 students, averaging 350 students each year.
“At the Massachusetts Maritime Academy the safety of all cadets is our highest priority. United Alliance Services Corporation has been providing high quality basic safety training each year to all of our approximately 300 freshman cadets for several years. United does a terrific job with our cadets and was recently awarded a new three-year contract with the Academy. We look forward to our continued relationship with them,” said Paul Airozo, Director Purchasing & Contracts, Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Topics in the Safety Training for Freshman Students include: Introduction to OSHA, Electrical Safety, Lockout/Tagout programs, Confined Spaces, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection, Hearing Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens, Emergency Action Plans, Fall Protection/ Lifts, Hand and Portable Power Tools, and Machine Guarding. Classes will begin September 12, 2016.
The training program will meet the Standards of Training and Watchkeeping (STCW). STCW regulations apply to all Mariners employed on U.S. vessels greater than 2000 Gross Register Tons (Domestic Tonnage, or 500 Gross Tons) (ITC Tonnage), seaward of boundary lines specified in Title 46 CFR Part 7.
Other educational institutions that UASC has worked with include: UMASS Dartmouth (Dartmouth, MA), Upper Cape Regional Technical High School (Bourne, MA), Bristol Community College (New Bedford, MA), Berk Trade School, (Long Island City, New York). In addition, UASC has provided workplace safety training and consulting services to a number of clients in the public sector such as the US Army, US Navy, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the National Park Service, as well as several municipalities.
