Brandman University Social Work Program Earns Professional Accreditation
The Council on Social Work Education granted accreditation to Brandman University on July 14, 2016, for its B.A. in social work. The program is one of the few available online nationwide with both accreditation and the flexibility to start classes throughout the year.
Irvine, CA, July 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Brandman University’s accelerated program for earning a bachelor’s degree in social work is now accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), which sets the standards for social work curriculums nationwide.
The Brandman program features rigorous eight-week sessions and is available at campuses in Southern California as a blended program with both in-person and online components. It is available nearly everywhere nationally as a fully online program.
“CSWE accreditation strongly supports our students’ career paths,” said Brandman University Chancellor Gary Brahm. “The professionally accredited B.A. in social work program furthers Brandman University’s mission to provide students with a dynamic education based on excellence and flexibility that creates lasting value and relevance for evolving careers.”
“This program is a good fit for a returning student, a parent, or someone who is working in social services but doesn’t have a degree but wants to maintain their job,” said Sibyl Beaulieu, one of the first professors hired by program director Karen Woodcock. “This is the future of social work.”
The university has seen a rapid growth in enrollment in the program since introducing it four years ago. In addition to preparing those with the B.A. for entry-level positions working with children, the elderly, people with developmental and other disabilities and community health programs, the Brandman degree qualifies students for advanced standing should they opt for a master’s in social work (MSW). Advanced standing could reduce the time needed to obtain a master’s degree by a full year.
