5th Annual Glass Slipper Ball Presented by Zonta Three Rivers North Slated for February 9, 2008

Pittsburgh North's biggest fundraising event is celebrating five years of raising money for women in need. The Glass Slipper Ball, scheduled for February 9, 2008, has already raised $210,000 for scholarships. The annual sell-out charity event features two dozen restaurants and wineries that will present signature samplings of fine food and wine.

Pittsburgh, PA, January 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Zonta Three Rivers Pittsburgh North will present it’s The Fifth Annual Glass Slipper Ball, featuring the Best of the North Hills Chefs and Wine Purveyors Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Four Points Sheraton in Marshall Township.

Hosted by KDKA anchor Stephanie Watson, the Glass Slipper Ball is one of North Pittsburgh’s largest and most popular fundraisers. In the previous four years, the event has generated more than $210,000 for scholarships that assist women through agencies like Crisis Center North, HEARTH, POWER, Girls Hope, Point Park University’s Visions of Tomorrow program, and North Hills Community Outreach.

This year’s event will once again showcase nearly two dozen restaurants whose chefs will be serving up signature hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Back by popular demand will be tastings from regional wine purveyors including: Barefoot Cellars, D’Andrea Imports, Chaddsford Winery, Laird Wine & Spirits, and The Wine Boss. A new addition to the event will be Hereford and Hops microbrewery, which will be serving up specially-made drafts.

“What goes better with fantastic food than a fine wine or a smooth ale,” event co-chair Jane Joy commented. “The wines were a big hit last year and they are back for 2008. Adding a microbrewery is for the guest who’d prefer a unique beer with their food.”

Restaurants confirmed to participate in 2008 include: Andora, Atria’s, Bravo, The Camelot, China Palace, Dominic’s Desserts, The Fig Tree, Four Points Sheraton, Fresco’s, The Hartwood Restaurant, John Marshall Catering, KeyImpact, Magoo’s, Marktfrau, Muriel’s Restaurant, Passport Café, Serenitea, Shakespeare’s Restaurant, SiBA, Specially Made by Diane, Springfield Grille, Stone Mansion Restaurant, Ugandan Gold Coffee, Wexford Post Office Deli, Wildwood Golf Club and Willow.

Along with the culinary, wine and beer samplings, guests will dance the night away with Pittsburgh’s finest variety band Finesse and take part in voting for the “Peoples Choice Awards” for best hors d’oeuvre and dessert. And to top it all off, a stunning Silent Auction will showcase sports memorabilia, dazzling jewelry, stunning gift baskets, and much more.

Tickets to the Glass Slipper Ball are $100 and are on sale now. Organizers suggest buying tickets early as the event sells out every year. Corporate sponsorships, program advertisements and other ways for local companies to get involved are all available.
