RFT: Reports on Russian Trade with Asian Countries in Q1 2016
Though Russia's trade with Asian countries did not show the significant positive dynamics in the 1st quarter of 2016, Asia is still viewed by Russia as a very promising partner.
Moscow, Russia, August 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Russian Foreign Trade has released the reports on Russia's foreign trade in goods with the countries of Asia in the first quarter of 2016.
The reports have been prepared by Russian Foreign Trade based on the data from the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
In particular, the reports have been issued on Russia's trade with the following countries: China, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Kazakhstan, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, Iran, Armenia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Hong Kong, Tajikistan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Syria, the Philippines, Jordan, Myanmar (Burma), Yemen, Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Cambodia, North Korea, Qatar, South Ossetia, and Pakistan (42 reports in total).

A brief review of Russia's trade with Asian countries in the 1st quarter of 2016:
The share of Asian countries in Russia's total trade (exports and imports) rose from 37.39% in the 1st quarter of 2015 to 37.78% in the 1st quarter of 2016.
The share of Asian countries in Russia's total exports rose from 35.77% in the 1st quarter of 2015 to 35.89% in the 1st quarter of 2016.
The share of Asian countries in Russia's total imports rose from 40.85% in the 1st quarter of 2015 to 41.01% in the 1st quarter of 2016.
The major trading partners of Russia in Asia in the 1st quarter of 2016:
- The top ten Russia’s trade partners in Asia in the 1st quarter of 2016 were China (13.83% of Russia’s total foreign trade), Japan (3.79%), Turkey (3.72%), South Korea (3.51%), Kazakhstan (2.64%), India (1.56%), Taiwan (0.97%), Vietnam (0.82%), Indonesia (0.66%), and Uzbekistan (0.59%);
- The top ten Russia’s export markets in Asia in the 1st quarter of 2016 were China (9.72% of Russia’s total exports), Turkey (5.24%), South Korea (4.15%), Japan (3.81%), Kazakhstan (2.93%), India (1.55%), Taiwan (0.94%), Uzbekistan (0.72%), Singapore (0.53%), Iran (0.49%);
- The top ten Russia’s import suppliers from Asia in the 1st quarter of 2016 were China (20.84% of Russia’s total imports), Japan (3.76%), South Korea (2.41%), Kazakhstan (2.16%), India (1.58%), Indonesia (1.48%), Vietnam (1.47%), Turkey (1.13%), Taiwan (1.00%), and Malaysia (0.75%).
The most notable changes in Russia's trade with the countries of Asia in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015:
- The share of China in Russia’s total exports rose from 7.5026% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 9.7219% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Turkey in Russia’s total exports declined from 6.4990% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 5.2394% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Japan in Russia’s total exports declined from 4.8169% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 3.8077% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Singapore in Russia’s total exports declined from 0.9290% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 0.5263% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Iraq in Russia’s total exports declined 2.2-fold from 0.9839% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 0.4507% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Saudi Arabia in Russia’s total exports declined 2-fold from 0.2199% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 0.1080% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Vietnam in Russia’s total exports rose 2-fold from 0.2186% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 0.4335% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Kazakhstan in Russia’s total imports declined from 2.7367% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 2.1563% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Turkey in Russia’s total imports declined 2.2-fold from 2.4471% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 1.1283% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of India in Russia’s total imports rose from 1.2961% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 1.5769% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Vietnam in Russia’s total imports rose from 1.1133% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 1.4744% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Thailand in Russia’s total imports declined from 0.9404% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 0.6116% in the 1st quarter of the 2016;
- The share of Indonesia in Russia’s total imports rose from 0.9007% in the 1st quarter of the 2015 to 1.4812% in the 1st quarter of the 2016.
