Proactis Gains Traction in US Public Sector

Proactis P2P Brings Control and Visibility of Costs to Five Local Government Organizations

Manchester, NH, January 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Proactis, the spend control company, today announces that channel partner Software Solutions Inc (SSI) in Lebanon, Ohio, has sold Proactis Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) to five public sector organizations: Hudson County, New Jersey, City of Streetsboro, Ohio, City of Beachwood, Ohio, City of Fairborn, Ohio and City of Trenton, Ohio. SSI is a provider of local government software solutions that help governments serve their communities and operate more efficiently.

Proactis’ solution is specifically designed to streamline organizational purchasing processes, helping to reduce overall turn-around time and improve budget control, providing all staff with visibility over specific purchases. The intuitive browser-based user interface allows easy access for all employees, while built-in controls give the right people power over budget checking, approval policies and transaction histories.

City of Trenton, for example, wanted to simplify its purchasing function to make procurement accessible to all staff, while at the same time providing department heads with a comprehensive overview of all purchasing activity and the ability to drill down into specific purchases.

“We are using P2P as a communication system,” says Lon Green, IT manager at Trenton. “The rules-driven workflow allows for a transaction to be passed from originator to approver instantly without the need to send paper forms from office to office. And if a department head needs more information, that request is likewise sent immediately back to the employee. This has taken days off the turn-around time.”

“A growing number of local governments are recognizing the need to streamline their procurement processes,” said SSI president, Terry Moore. “Proactis Purchase-to-Pay makes it easier for employees to buy the things they need, while allowing purchasing teams and budget holders to maintain clear control and visibility of how budgets are being spent.”

Michael Engel, treasurer at Trenton, says: “P2P has already greatly improved our procurement process and its ability to fully integrate with our financial system, SSI Financial Management, has meant that implementation was quick and seamless. It makes it even easier for people to get what they need to do their jobs while complying with our established policies and procedures.”
