Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality Ignites Relationship with Healthcare Startup

Dallas, TX, August 21, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Clinicians aim for a common goal, to have their patients receive the best care possible. Part of assuring the consistent delivery of quality patient care is complying with federal regulations and hospital accreditation standards.

According to CMS.gov, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) covers 100 million people through Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs. If a hospital is not up to par with the standards CMS sets, they risk losing their Medicare certification as well as accreditation by deemed-status agencies. When this happens, most hospitals go out of business.

It was through a common desire to help hospitals be successful in the regulatory arena that a unique partnership between the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) and VaultMR was formed. CIHQ is a membership-based organization comprised primarily of acute care and critical access hospitals across the United States.

CIHQ became aware of a member organization’s desire to use VaultMR’s new electronic health record (EHR). VaultMR is a Dallas-based startup that has built a highly intuitive EHR platform targeted for post-short-term acute care facilities.

“We saw a wonderful opportunity to partner with VaultMR in designing an EHR that helps hospitals comply with Medicare Conditions or Participation,” said Richard Curtis, Chief Executive Officer for CIHQ. “EHR companies often focus their energy on building platforms that are compliant for reimbursement – which is obviously important. But attention also needs to be paid to designing an EHR platform that complies with all of the regulations,” Curtis added.

The relationship made sense to VaultMR founder and Chief Operating Officer, Soumen Bhattacharya. “I was pleasantly surprised that they (CIHQ) reached out to us. We are a startup. But we are constantly working on improving the product and this consulting partnership provides more clarity over compliance issues within the industry,” he said.

Bhattacharya also considers how help from CIHQ eased the burden on hospital staff. “Long term benefits include overall customer satisfaction. By working with CIHQ’s consulting arm, we can improve our customers’ quality of documentation and ease some of their stress from overwhelming requirements,” he said.

After working together, both parties recognize the value of continuing the relationship. “We certainly look forward to working with VaultMR in the future. Our work to-date has already given us a better appreciation of the complexities of rehab care,” said Curtis.
