Eagle Scout Soars High for Area Disabled
Clearwater, FL, August 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- For most seniors in High School, it is quite enough to keep up with class work, social commitments, and the normal tugs of time on a schedule. Tyler Lavrinc is able to rise above the typical and go the extra mile for those in our community who are unable to do for themselves. Tyler is involved with Troop 468 and has recently earned his Eagle Scout badge. For his Eagle Scout project, Tyler chose to renovate The Arc Tampa Bay’s Serenity Garden where those we serve are able to enjoy a quiet place outdoors.
Tyler Lavrinc first became acquainted with The Arc Tampa Bay during his sophomore year at Clearwater Central Catholic High School. Tyler liked the idea of collaborating with The Arc Tampa Bay, an organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sheldon Hershman, Executive Director of The Arc Tampa Bay, commented, "Our population is deserving of Tyler Lavrinc's attention. We commend his dedication and efforts to improve our campus."
Tyler enlisted the help of his parents, Teresa and Brian Lavrinc and his fellow scouts on Troop 468, for the renovations of the garden during the weekend project. They were able to reset benches, swings, clear planting beds, spread mulch, secure a wheelchair ramp, and beautify the entire space. Deborah Simeone, Volunteer Coordinator of The Arc Tampa Bay, stated, "We've been looking for someone to tackle the Serenity Garden for the past two years. Tyler's improvements to the garden will be lasting, that's why it is so special."
Tyler is among many in our community willing to assist The Arc Tampa Bay. Madison Orr Hauenstein, Executive Director of The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation, says, "People want to make a difference. This project means so much to those served by The Arc Tampa Bay. We are thrilled that a young person of Tyler's caliber is interested in the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community."
The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 1501 N. Belcher Road, Suite 244, Clearwater, Florida 33765. For more information about The Arc Tampa Bay, please call (727) 797-8712 or visit www.thearctbfoundation.org.
