PBTF Unites with We Can to Form California Chapter
The We Can Pediatric Brain Tumor Network is now the California Chapter of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
Asheville, NC, August 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is continuing to expand its focus on serving more children and families by uniting with the We Can Pediatric Brain Tumor Network to form the PBTF California Chapter.
As the PBTF California Chapter, We Can will continue to be led by its cofounder and executive director, Kathy Riley. Existing programs for families, including camps, hospital and clinic visits, parent-to-parent mentoring, support meetings and social gatherings for English- and Spanish-speaking families throughout California, will continue and grow as funding allows.
We Can’s local fundraising events will join the PBTF’s Ride for Kids motorcycle charity events, Starry Night 8.5K walk/runs and Couture for Kids fashion shows to raise awareness and support families throughout California.
"The PBTF wants to care for and cure the kids, but we can’t do it alone,” said Larry Little, chair of the PBTF Board of Directors. “Much like our alignment with the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children to form our Georgia Chapter in 2014, this union with We Can will help us fund more research into better treatments and provide more services to improve the quality of life for survivors and their families.”
"For more than 20 years, We Can has been driven and run by parents whose lives have been turned upside down because their child was diagnosed with a brain tumor,” added We Can Board Chair Joyce Derrickson. “Our strengths of bringing together families of children diagnosed with brain tumors to provide truly empathetic support, programs, camps, and information will combine with the PBTF's extraordinary track record in seeking out new treatments for these children. Together we will be so much stronger.”
