Dr. Lichtenwald has over 39 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. From 1988 through 1989 he served as a clinical psychologist for the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons in Lompoc, California. From 1989 through 1993 he served as the Director of Behavioral Science at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Rockford, Department of Family and Community Medicine. From 1993 to the present, he has been a self-employed forensic psychologist providing forensic psychological services for law firms, courts, and private industry. He conducts Fitness to Stand Trial, Sanity at the Time of the Offense, threat assessment, and security evaluations.
Dr. Lichtenwald obtained a B.S. in Broad Field Social Studies and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison (1979) and a M.A. in School Psychology (1981) from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He earned a M.A. (1985) and a Ph.D. (1987) in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-Fresno. He completed a doctoral internship in clinical psychology at the North Chicago Veterans’ Administration Medical Center (1987) and a post-doctorate internship in clinical psychology at Internal Medicine Associates in Barrington, Illinois (1988). In 1989, he graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center – Glynco, GA. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Council for the National Register of Health Science Providers in Psychology.
Dr. Lichtenwald has numerous peer review publications and textbook citations. He has designed software programs and databases used in his field. Research areas are: Smuggling and Fraud Detection Homicide.
