Azerbaijan’s Capital Baku Among World’s Most Friendly and Liveable

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 31, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Baku has topped The Economist's liveability rankings 2016. The city made it to number 9 in the list of the world’s 10 cities, where living standards have grown considerably over the past five years.

According to the report, Baku’s rating increased by 1.6 percent compared to previous years, outrunning the city of Honolulu (Hawaii, U.S.), which closes Top 10, on this parameter.

“The quality of life that we, as a society, enjoy in Baku should not be underestimated. It’s a safe, vibrant city with cultural attractions, UNESCO World heritage sites, world-class events and festivals, and countless dining, entertainment and shopping options," said Mr. Nahid Bagirov, The Head of Tourism Association of Azerbaijan (AZTA).

Azerbaijan has some of most livable towns in the world including Sheki- the most authentic city in Azerbaijan 2,500 years old, Gabala - A beautiful city that used to be the capital of Caucasian Albania for 600 years and others.

Plenty of space, fantastic weather and climate throughout the year, awesome attractions, cultural and religious diversity, Safety and security, and economic prosperity all contribute to making Azerbaijani towns great places to live and to visit. Azerbaijan also gives visitors that feeling of “Home away from Home” Especially for the GCC travelers who enjoy Azerbaijan’s proximity to the gulf countries, the Cultural similarities and the delicious Halal Cuisine.

“As these factors underpin the liveability of Baku, they also contribute to the visitor experience, all these elements add up to make Baku and Azerbaijan as a whole a must-visit destination for people from all over the world, and especially GCC,” said the Chairman of the representative Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan in GCC, Mr. Rashid AL Noori.

Also recently published as the new hot spot destination for Arabs by leading News and lifestyle publications, Baku turns out to be also one of the friendliest cities in the world.

Atlantis Holiday, the Representative Office of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan in GCC conducted a survey by asking many Arab visitors who had just concluded their trip to Azerbaijan, to rate the city's “friendliness” on aspects such as: What was your experience interacting with Azerbaijanis? Did residents of Baku help with directions? How would you rate the friendliness of the services and facilities offered in Baku and by Azerbaijanis?

One visitor Mr. Khaled Abdulgani Abdulla Al-Farzai from Al Ain, UAE, had travelled to Azerbaijan with his family and commented: “Azeris are very friendly and hospitable. On our way to Gabala, we met farmers who were selling different varieties of fresh fruits straight from the farm. We stopped to get some of the fruits and we were very surprised at how friendly they were, and how easy it was to communicate with them despite the language difficulties. They allowed us to taste all kinds of fruits which were very delicious and when we finally made our choice, they packed the fruits really beautifully for us. My children were very excited about the whole experience. We’ll never forget the hospitality of the Azeri People. ”

“This consumer survey reiterates what we already know - Azerbaijanis are known to the world over for their hospitable nature and the warm welcome they give their visitors. We welcome more people from GCC to Azerbaijan and we’d like to hear your feedback,” said Rashid AL Noori.
