Food Bank of South Jersey Announces Schedule for "Hunger Action Month" Events
Pennsauken, NJ, September 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) today announced a series of fundraising and community service events to be held throughout September in support of Hunger Action Month – Feeding America’s nationwide campaign to engage the public to make a difference in the fight against hunger.
During Hunger Action Month, FBSJ’S staff and its community partners are supporting the following:
· Hope in Action Impact Day (September 8) –Teams of FBSJ employees will volunteer at six local pantries, providing maintenance and administrative support to organizations that are part of FBSJ’s food distribution network.
. Dine Out for Hunger (September 18-24) – Approximately 40 South Jersey restaurants are teaming to donate a portion of their lunch and dinner proceeds to FBSJ’s mission. The list of participating restaurants for the week-long event can be found at: http://www.foodbanksj.org/dineout.
· Food Truck Friday (September 23) – FBSJ will host food truck merchants offering diverse menu selections at its Pennsauken facilities on September 23, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. A percentage of sales generated from the event (open to the public) is donated to FBSJ programs for children.
· Hunger Action Month Crowdfunding Page – FBSJ will host an online fundraising page with a goal of generating $10,000 in donations. Visitors will be able to share the page through Facebook, Twitter, and email to increase hunger awareness to friends and family: https://donate.foodbanksj.org/campaign/hunger-action-month/c89446
· Students Change Hunger (September 19) – The statewide Students Change Hunger food drive kicks off on Monday, September 19 and runs through December 12. Once again, FBSJ will be championing this campaign through speaking engagements that challenge students in its service area to combat hunger by organizing food and fund drives at their schools.
