Charm City Run to Team with Komen Race for the Cure to Motivate Runners and Manage One of Largest Races in Maryland
Charm City Run is excited to partner with Komen Maryland Race for the Cure to offer group training programs targeting the October race in Hunt Valley. Ladies' nights and a donation Saturday will also be held at all Charm City Run locations this fall to raise money and awareness for the cause. When it comes time for the race on October 23, the Charm City Run events team will be managing and timing the event.
Timonium, MD, September 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Maryland runners have the opportunity to aid the efforts of Susan G. Komen to save lives and end breast cancer forever by joining more than 11,000 runners, walkers and spectators at the Race for the Cure in Hunt Valley on October 23. Charm City Run is thrilled to be partnering with Komen for this event by offering fundraising opportunities, 5K community training and race day management.
“Everyone has been affected by breast cancer,” says Josh Levinson, owner of Charm City Run, “and we are no exception. This race is important and brings our community together each year. Some just want to run. Some are celebrating survival. Others are still mourning the loss of a sister, mother or friends. All feel better for sweating together. We are honored to be a part of this inspiring event.”
Charm City Run will offer six weeks of community training targeting the October race. Participants will meet for supported group runs once a week and have access to an experienced coach and a full training plan. For each registration, Charm City Run will donate five dollars to Komen Maryland Race for the Cure.
Fundraising opportunities for runners and members of the community will continue throughout the fall with in-store events at Charm City Run. All five running store locations and women’s lifestyle store VITA in Belvedere Square will host a ladies’ night in September with the opportunity for women to enjoy refreshments and snacks while shopping apparel and accessories at a 15 percent discount. Attendees will have the option to donate their discount to Komen Maryland Race for the Cure. Representatives from the organization will be present to help answer questions and facilitate race registration.
On October 1, Charm City Run will donate 10 percent of all sales to the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure. Additionally, the store will offer race-themed merchandise for runners and supporters of the race’s purpose.
When it comes time for the October race in Hunt Valley, the Charm City Run events team will be managing and timing the event. For more information about the race and to register, please visit race.komenmd.org.
