Long Term Care Insurance Inquiries by Consumers Increases 32 Percent Reports AALTCI
Los Angeles, CA, September 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The number of consumers contacting the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance to request information and comparison costs increased 32 percent for the month of August compared to the same time period a year ago.
"We take this as a renewed interest among consumers for the need to undertake planning for the very real risk of needing long term care," explains Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI). The national organization advocates for the importance of planning and supports insurance professionals who market various products to finance long-term care needs.
"This is the first month we have seen an increase in the number of consumer inquiries," Slome notes. "That is a welcome turn around from what we've perceived as a general lessening of interest and purchasing." The national long term care insurance expert attributes the change to the aging American population and the more stable financial economic outlook.
"You hear a lot of doom and gloom from politicians seeking to push their own agenda, but there's a significant segment of the population that look at their investment portfolios and feel rather happy thanks to the stock market highs," Slome adds. "They realize that living a long life and needing long-term care could wipe out all they've worked to save and so they want to know how long-term care insurance works and how much it costs."
In addition to increases in interest in long-term care insurance, Slome shared an increased awareness in other available options including short-term care insurance. "When cost is an issue and when isn't it, short-term care insurance is an excellent option to look at and we're seeing consumers specifically ask about this option for the first time, Slome explains.
AALTCI receives several hundred consumer inquiries every month and has the most visited informational website focused on long-term care insurance.
