Hurley Medical Center is on FHIR via Carefluence OpenAPI
Hospital community utilizes FHIR standards via MU3 certified open API ‘drop in’ application to facilitate mandated sharing of medical records among patients and doctors.
Grand Blanc, MI, September 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Hurley Medical Center utilizes Carefluence’s Fast Healthcare Interoperable Resources (FHIR) OpenAPI platform to exchange vital medical information with over 50 physicians and practice administrators in the community, facilitating coordinated care. Carefluence was recently announced as the first open API software platform certified for Stage 3 of Meaningful Use by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) -- providing any currently deployed EHR software with a standards-based open API solution for interoperability. Hurley Medical Center was first to connect to the Carefluence OpenAPI platform for automated delivery of all authorized requests to access electronic patient records according to Meaningful Use Stage 3 requirements.
Carefluence OpenAPI software module has been deployed alongside existing EHRs within the Hurley Medical Center community and provides functionality which allows secure open access to electronic health records. Hurley Medical Center had initially launched the HurleyHub through Carefluence in June 2013, “The hospital wanted to ensure ongoing support for our physician community without forcing physicians to change their EMR,” comments Dr. Roebuck, Hurley Medical Center CMIO, “The Carefluence solution allows us to exchange medical records with physicians without the need for point-to-point connections to each physician office. This saves IT resources for Hurley and the physicians while greatly reducing integration time and costs.”
The Carefluence OpenAPI is a comprehensive, “plug-and-play” software solution that fully complies with the FHIR standard, which describes data formats and elements for exchange of health information across disparate EHR systems. “This FHIR platform positions Hurley Medical Center as a national leader in providing open access to patient records for emerging health applications, allowing patients and doctors the capability to monitor health behaviors, coordinate care, and improve outcomes,” said Lloyd Williams, Carefluence Co-Founder and COO.
Hurley Medical Center utilizes Carefluence’s suite of integration tools that allow mapping with existing data exchange protocols and offers a secure access management tool using OAuth 2.0, an authorization framework enabling applications to obtain controlled access to patient data through user accounts.
