New York, NY, September 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- On Thursday September 29th, Lend a Hand Uganda USA (LAHU-USA) will be hosting its’ Second Annual Poker Tournament at Black Label Wines to raise money to kick-off their Ginger Farm Project in Butambala outside the Kampala region in Uganda.
Last year’s event raised $15,000 which enabled the organization to expand its’ Rabbit Project, and implement an environmental project in the Gangu region among other things. This year’s goal is to raise $60,000 which will enable them to kick-off their first ever Ginger Project in Butambala. This project is especially important to the community as ginger is a cash crop in Uganda.
LAHU-USA differs from other organizations in their approach to supporting their beneficiaries. By sponsoring projects in animal husbandry, mushroom, bricklaying and horticultural projects, guardian, education, and health and nutrition programs, they are able to equip entire communities with the tools, training, and support to maintain and grow each project, and believe that this holistic approach fosters permanent change that will improve lives.
"Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in the world yet it faces so many challenges due extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We here at Lend Hand Uganda do not throw money at the problem rather we work with communities and families to set them up for a more sustainable future. We educate, we nature, we work in synch and one on one with the families making sure that the child we have placed in any home and community is secure and will thrive through his/her adult life," says Executive Director Harriett Zaffoni.
Participation in the Poker Tournament ranges from spectator tickets to full table sponsorships. Player tickets purchased prior to August 30th will receive 1,000 extra chips. Tickets can be purchased online at: https://freedommerchants.com/LAHU/pokernight.html.
