Beale Street and Blues Hall of Fame Partner for Bridging the Blues Event

Memphis, TN, September 16, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Two iconic Memphis organizations announced events for the annual Bridging the Blues campaign. On Thursday, October 6th the Blues Hall of Fame will open a new exhibit from internationally acclaimed blues photographer Marc Norberg. That same evening Beale Street will present the Road to the Biscuit Blues Festival, a free, street-wide, live music event.

The Blues Hall of Fame will debut the exhibit Black, White and Blues: Photographs by Marc Norberg. Hall of Fame admission will be discounted to $7 for adults and $5 for students until noon for attendees. ​An internationally recognized ​Norberg’s exhibit will include photographs of Albert Collins, Etta James, B.B. “Marc Nordberg’s photography captures the essence of artists who have made their mark on the blues. This exhibit, in black and white, focuses on the humanity of these men and women who have connected with fans around the world,” explained B​arbara Newman, Executive Director​ of The Blues Foundation.

The Road to the Biscuit Blues Festival will take over clubs along the world’s most famous boulevard of blues. The scheduled lineup features national blues acts from Bob Margolin, Lonnie Shields and Mike Zito to area favorites Blind Mississippi Morris, Will Tucker, Barbara Blue and Southern Avenue, who recently signed a major label deal to Stax Records. The free festival reestablishes a Memphis blues music event tradition in partnership with the King Biscuit Blues Festival taking place in Helena, Arkansas October 6-9. Memphis-based syndicated blues radio program Beale Street Caravan will be recording performances along the street for broadcast to its international audience.

Bridging the Blues events will take place throughout Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi throughout September and October. The Hall of Fame exhibit and Road to the Biscuit Festival join the Harahan Bridge opening on October 22nd as sanctioned Bridging the Blues events in Memphis.

Road to the Biscuit is a program of the Beale Street Merchants Association (BSMA). The BSMA is composed of 26 businesses located in the Beale Street Historic District. It is the Association's mission to promote Beale Street in its capacity as the number one tourist attraction in Tennessee, as well as, educate residents in the surrounding region of the importance of the Beale Street Historic District Heritage.
