The partners have over 60 years of combined legal experience and have been recognized in a number of publications for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the legal profession. All three formerly practiced at Verrill Dana LLP’s Kennebunk office.

About the founding partners:

Gene R. Libby has over 25 years of experience in civil and criminal litigation; he served as District Attorney, where he developed his trial experience, and his work has been featured in a number of national publications, from the American Bar Journal to Nature magazine. Mr. Libby has represented a diverse group of businesses and organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Charities of Maine, and York County Government, as well as individuals.

He received his B.S. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern Maine and his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law. Mr. Libby is involved in numerous community and professional organizations, including board member of Mary’s Walk and the Maine Cancer Foundation, Saco City Council (1999-2003). He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and was named a “New England Super Lawyer” by his peers.

Timothy J. O’Brien’s practice areas include Labor and Employment, Sports Law and Hospitality. For more than 20 years, he has represented management on a wide variety of labor and employment issues including wrongful termination and discrimination claims, wage claims, RICO claims, as well as advising clients on health, safety, wage and labor law issues. He also has expertise in sports-related law and has advised college and university athletic departments across the country on issues ranging from Title IX to drug testing.

Mr. O’Brien is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (A.B.) and the New England School of Law (J.D.). He currently serves on the boards of directors of the United Way of York County, the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks, and the KBIA Youth Program. Mr. O’Brien has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America (2006 and 2007) and was distinguished by his peers as a “New England Super Lawyer.”

Gail P. Kingsley established Kingsley & LaBrecque in South Natick, MA in 1993 after having been associated with Burns & Levinson, a major Boston firm, for several years. She is a highly respected and experienced estate planning attorney with clients in Massachusetts and Maine. She received her BS in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and her law degree from Boston College Law School (JD cum laude). Ms. Kingsley earned an advanced law degree (LLM in Taxation) at Boston University Law School. She serves on the board of directors of Avesta Housing and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Wellesley Cooperative Bank. Ms. Kingsley is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of Estate Planning, Estate Taxation, Drafting Effective Wills and Trusts, Health Care Directives and Durable Powers of Attorney.
