Possum Interactive Joins Epic Games and 9Gauge Partners on a Panel on "Building a Great Company" at the Austin Game Conference
Austin, TX, September 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Key game industry leaders from Possum Interactive, 9Gauge Partners, and Epic Games are coming together to lead a panel on “Building a Great Game Company” on 22 Sept. 2016 at the Austin Game Conference at the city Convention Center. Attendees will learn the ins and outs for starting, growing and running a business including corporate formation, taxes, rules for employees and contractors, insurance, and contracts.
“There are thousands of people employed in Austin’s video game industry, but many more are out building indie games,” said Frank Coppersmith, panel moderator and chair of Austin’s Game Developers Association (www.austingamedevs.org). “There is incredible game development talent here, but to succeed, they need to be empowered to build and run their business.”
Joining the panel is Casey Currie, consulting CPA at 9Gauge Partners, a management-consulting firm that advises business on long-term strategy to help accelerate growth, profitability and value. “Having a solid financial operation is critical to a successful business,” she says. “Many new business owners wait until it’s too late to get their accounting house in order.”
Quoc Tran, CTO at Possum Interactive and a long-time entrepreneur, agrees. “I’ve seen it firsthand where a financially successful business ran into trouble with the IRS for failing to keep up with filings. You have to start with your accounting and tax plan in mind as you get into business, not at the end of a tax year.”
Also joining the panel is Joe Kreiner of Epic Games. He will be providing insight into his experiences with trademark law and employment contracts.
The distinguished panel takes place on 22 Sept. 2016, from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at the Austin Convention Center, Room 18D.
