Olympia, WA, September 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Explore Liquid Nitrogen, Homebrew, Cheese, and Bugs at the Museum’s Adult Swim: Science of Eats - Sept 30 #HOCMeats
Hands On Children’s Museum is once again offering playtime for adults at the museum with Adult Swim: Science of Eats – Friday, Sept 30 from 7-10 p.m. The late night event for adults 21+ is a chance to sample local bites & brews and learn about the science behind the foods we eat.
Science of Eats features scientific activities and tasty treats from local farms and shops. Guests get to experience molecular gastronomy and the process of spherification, dare their friends to eat bugs, investigate animal diets, and learn the science behind liquid nitrogen ice cream. You can literally “check out” food-focused media from the Timberland Regional “pop-up” Library while enjoying the funky soul sounds of DJ Slimrock.
Taste, smell and explore local eats like honey from Olympia Beekeepers Association, olive oil from Olympia Olive Oil, smoked oysters from Pacific Shellfish Growers, cheeses from The Mouse Trap and sauerkraut from Olykraut. Cascadia Homebrew and Sandstone Distillery will be there, as well as the Olympia Farmer’s Market, Skokomish Ridge Mushrooms, Helsing Junction Farm, Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters, and Abby’s Cupcakes – all offering samples.
“Science of Eats is a foodie’s adventure into chemistry, biology, mycology, anthropology and even entomophagy,” said Adult Swim maestro, Adrienne Testa.
Entomophagy is focused on edible insects and their nutritional benefits. Learn why bugs are healthy to eat and sample bugs at the insect fondue station complete with chocolate dipping sauce.
This educational adult fun is made possible through our event sponsors Abby’s Cupcakes, Batdorf & Bronson, L&E Bottling, and Marine View Beverage. The event is exclusively for adults, mixing good food & drink, music & dancing, and playful science at the Museum.
Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 on the day of the event. In addition to the scientific nibbles and sips, dinner is available for purchase at the Taqueria la Esquinita food truck onsite and beverages will include beer, wine, and a Scientist’s Spodie signature cocktail, as well as non-alcoholic choices. One free drink is included in ticket price. To get tickets and stay up-to-date as new activities are added, visit hocm.org/adultswim. Look for us at #HOCMeats.
