Dayton Teens Give Back to Their Community

Kettering, OH, September 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- St. Albert Youth Ministry’s Mission Trip

This summer, fifty-two St. Albert Youth from the Kettering, Oakwood and Centerville areas traveled to Detroit for a summer work camp where they learned skills to beautify properties that were in disrepair. This included painting, building decks, cleaning out houses, moving and packing, mulching, landscaping, trimming bushes, weeding, urban gardening, moving debris from houses that were demolished. The many hours working side by side during the mission trip projects helped the teens build strong friendships and an alliance. The major lesson they all learned was “working together as a team, how quickly we can help so many people back home in our own community.”

The students brought this knowledge and experience back to Dayton Area. For a week in July, again teens gave up their summer as they diligently worked for homebound senior citizens who needed help with cleaning up the outside of their home, including landscaping, mulching, weeding, trimming bushes, power washing, packing and moving. The teens really enjoyed visiting and connecting with these senior residents.

The Mission Trip next summer takes the St Albert Youth to Virginia Beach, VA.

Once again the youth will embrace the challenge to put themselves aside to serve and restore homes and hearts, feed the hungry, lift the spirits of children, give hope to the disabled, and provide help through partnerships with social agencies.

St. Albert Youth Ministry will be having a Trunk Sale Fundraiser on
Oct 1st from 9 to 1 in their parking lot.

All the proceeds will go towards helping teens that need financial assistance
to go on the trip.
