Bark ATL Hosts Canines Seeking Shelter from Hurricane Matthew

Atlanta, GA, October 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- With millions of people and their pets evacuating the coasts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, many are seeking shelter from Hurricane Matthew in Atlanta. Bark ATL, one of the few Atlanta-based boarding facilities that accepts out-of-state daycare, has seen 20% of its capacity filled with dogs displaced from the monster storm while their owners scramble to find available rooms in local hotels that do not allow pets.

Known for being 100% cage-free for daycare and overnight boarding, Bark ATL has met the challenge of accommodating out-of-state guests into its play groups. There are no kennels or cages at the facility located in downtown Atlanta so it is critical that the dogs get along with each other. The facility has onsite 24-hour staff to monitor the dogs as they sleep together in 3 spacious rooms for a so-called doggie pajama party. Bark ATL has webcams in all its playrooms and its outdoor yard so their displaced owners can stream live video to keep tabs on their furry friends from their local hotel rooms or other places of temporary shelter. “We hit full capacity early on Friday morning, but we are doing our best to help refer anyone who is calling to local dog sitters or shelters as best we can,” says Bark ATL’s General Manager, Justin Wierman. “We’ve even had some of our regular customers reach out to ask how they can help which is an awesome feeling to know that our customers really care about these dogs as much as we do.”
