Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland Commemorates UN International Day of the Girl Child by Showing the Acclaimed Movie "SOLD"
Human Trafficking Movie Event
Bowie, MD, October 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- A Special One-Time Screening of anti-trafficking film SOLD, based on the global bestseller, SOLD, by Patricia McCormick, an award winning film that tells the unforgettable story of a girl who risks everything for freedom after being trafficked from her mountain village in Nepal to a brothel in India.
Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland will be hosting a one-time screening of SOLD at the AMC Magic Johnson Theatre located at Boulevard at the Capital Centre, 800 Shoppers Way, Largo, MD 20774, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, 7:30 pm. SOLD gives a voice to the millions of children who disappear every year. It is a call to action and a testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit. The film has partnered with a service called Tugg which enables people and organizations to set up screenings in their local theater in efforts to spread awareness.
This event also commemorates the UN International Day of the Girl Child on October 11. D. Michael Lyles, Esq., Executive Director of The Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission and Chair, Prince George’s County Human Trafficking Task Force will be one of the guest speakers prior to the showing of the film followed by Q&A afterward. Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland is bringing this event to our city to inform people that human trafficking is a local, national and international problem that is stealing our girls.
“It’s very rare, I think, that a piece of art or of storytelling could really help to change things… ‘Sold’ is one of those films. It’s a beautiful piece of work.”
