Care For Friends Announces Date for Homeless Sleepout 2017
Organization plans a night of homelessness to raise funds for Chicago’s most vulnerable
Chicago, IL, October 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Explaining that many Americans are just two missed pay checks away from becoming homeless, Care For Friends is hosting a night of homelessness on January 27, 2017 as a fundraising event to connect Chicago’s must vulnerable with the resources they need to achieve a better life. The night of homelessness – scheduled for what is historically one of the coldest nights of the year – is the second such event hosted by the organization.
“Last year, seven of our Board members slept out in the snow, and learned a great deal about the issues and challenges facing homeless Chicagoans,” said JD Miller, President of the organization’s Board of Directors. “This year, we are extending the invitation outside our Board to anyone who would like to help support Chicago’s homeless by joining us from sunset on January 27 through sunrise on January 28th. The evening will provide an opportunity to wrestle with questions like how to stay warm in the snow? Where is there a safe place to sleep? What can you do for a meal? How do you manage basic human needs like going to the bathroom, or washing up?”
Individuals can register for the event by signing up as a sleeper at http://www.careforfriends.org/sleepout-for-homelessness. Financial donations can also be made at that site as well.
The organization is also using the hashtag #CFFSleeps in conjunction with the event – which will also include real time Twitter updates throughout the evening.
