The First Tee of the Triangle Appoints Old Chatham Director of Operations to Its Champions Circle
Local Youth Development Organization Honors John Marino and Dennis and Nancy Horstman at a Night FORE Champions
Raleigh, NC, October 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The First Tee of the Triangle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to impacting the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf, has announced that the organization will be inducting Old Chatham Director of Operations John Marino, and Dennis and Nancy Horstman, long-time First Tee ambassadors and mentors, into The First Tee Champions Circle. This exclusive induction honors members who go above and beyond to serve the community and are ambassadors for The First Tee of the Triangle.
John Marino has been in the golf business since graduating form the University of Connecticut and came to Old Chatham when the club opened in 2001. Since then, he has been the only golf professional to ever work there. In his 15 years at Old Chatham, John has mentored countless assistant professionals and helped them to obtain careers in the golf industry. In addition to his position as Director of Operations at Old Chatham, he serves as President of the Carolinas PGA Section and served on The First Tee of the Triangle board of directors.
Dennis and Nancy Horstman have been a huge part of The First Tee of the Triangle for many years. Dennis has served as a volunteer coach for over eight years, and Nancy has been a coach for six years, while also serving as a mentor for a young woman in The First Tee Program. In addition to their time spent at The First Tee, Dennis served as a mentor at Governors Club and Nancy has spent the past nine years serving as an afterschool tutor to Hispanic children helping to increase their language and math skills.
The event, A Night FORE Champions, will be held at Prestonwood Country Club on Saturday, Oct.15, 2016. There will be a cocktail hour with a silent auction at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Champions Circle honorees will be recognized, followed by dinner, a brief program and a live auction. This year’s PGA Tour Champions include Tom Lehman, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie. Individual tickets are available for $175 per person or $300 per couple.
