The Tech Academy Hosts Its First Social Networking Night
On October 25 at 6 p.m., The Tech Academy hosts a networking night where participants will give a 30-second pitch about themselves.
Portland, OR, October 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Tech Academy received a brand new ping pong and foosball table just in time for its first social night. The event will be held at the coding boot camp's classroom in downtown Portland on Tuesday, October 25 at 6 p.m.
Aside from meeting and greeting, the evening will give people a chance to work on their personal elevator pitch. People are advised to come ready to deliver a 30-second summary about themselves.
Tony Thatch, The Tech Academy's Outreach Director, said, "The elevator pitch is a short summary about yourself and how you intend to connect with other people." Attendees will be all ears for who you are, what services you provide, whether are you looking for talent or a job, what skills and experience you have, etc.
The Tech Academy plans to provide this platform for people to meet in a casual manner and just hang out. The event will be open to the general public. Beer and pizza are included.
According to Thatch, "The goal is to have fun with passionate people and to inspire the future of software development."
The Tech Academy plans to be of use to the local tech industry and create value to the public. According to Thatch, the problem with most networking events is people have to go one by one and introduce themselves over and over again. With this new networking technique everyone can see everyone's intentions from the beginning.
People from various backgrounds in the Portland tech industry will be attending. From students and recruiters to everything in between. Thatch said, "That's the cool thing about Portland's tech scene, you don't have to be in tech to be in the tech community." All are invited.
