The part-time programme commences on Monday 21 November 2016 and is open to 12 participants in the first round.
There is a growing need for data science expertise inside companies in the maritime and logistics sector and the supply of experts on this subject is scarce. The Venturn Data Science (VDS) programme seeks to develop in-house data consultant(s) to use information and data as an asset and foster the competencies required to allocate this data effectively.
The unique programme features 10 modules delivered over 12 months enabling attendees to generate business value after each module with cutting edge, yet practical concepts, ideas, and tools with which to build and strengthen data programmes in their own working environments.

The VDS Programme is looking for Maritime & logistics professionals of all ages and backgrounds who:
- Have a keen interest in creating knowledge out of data.
- Currently work with data and want to do more with it.
- Have business knowledge and practical problem solving experience.
- Typically work in Business Information, Business Analysis, Big Data and also Finance, Marketing, and Business Development areas amongst others.
Programme structure
The 12-month programme delivered on a part-time basis includes an initial 5-day crash course followed by 10 in-depth training modules delivered over 1 working day and 1 evening per month. Subjects that are taught are machine learning, forecasting, optimisation, reporting and the use of relational database management systems for these methods. The programme also offers inspirational workshops, team building projects and field trips.
