Sikhcess™ Unveils New Website to Assist Volunteers with Worldwide Initiative to ‘Feed the Homeless’ in March 2008
Chicago, IL, January 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sikhcess™, a community-service organization dedicated to promoting the basic Sikh principles of public service, community, and equality for mankind, today unveiled its redesigned website (www.sikhcess.com) with significantly enhanced interactive content and event-scheduling features.
“In order to help volunteers around the world prepare for launch of the largest-ever effort of its kind to feed the homeless, we very much needed to enhance our online presence, and provide volunteers with an exciting, interactive mechanism to communicate on a global level,” explained Mr. Amit Singh, Executive Director of Sikhcess™. “I’m grateful to all those who have helped bring our new Web site online. It is a crucial phase in our growth initiative that serves to highlight our upcoming ‘Worldwide Feed the Homeless’ campaign”, spanning four continents, on March 1st, 2008”.
Sikhcess™ launched its redesigned Web site, created by Free Range Studios, named by Fast Company magazine to its 6th annual “Fast 50” list of leaders, innovators and technology pioneers in the for-profit sector.
With offices in Washington, D.C, and Berkeley, California, Free Range is credited with creating online and print media assets for leading social agencies, non-profits, political campaigns and socially responsible businesses, including Amnesty International, African Wildlife Foundation, World Wildlife Foundation, Sierra Club, Move-On.org, and Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States and the world’s most famous environmental activist.
“This new Web site is the next step in our community service expansion”, continued Mr. Singh, “Our bold, freshly designed Web site (www.sikhcess.com) provides visitors with an exciting and vibrant place to sign up and join rewarding volunteer programs designed to help those who need it most – the homeless and hungry on our streets.”
Working to help address homeless hunger, Sikhcess™ has taken ‘Langar’ (or ‘Free Kitchen’) to those on the streets, on a global level. Volunteers throughout the world distribute freshly prepared individual food packages to the homeless and needy. Sikhcess™ understands that this campaign alone is certainly not enough to address the needs of the homeless and hungry, but is hopeful that efforts to feed the needy will, at the very least, serve as temporary relief.
The Sikh institution of ‘Langar’ was started by the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak. It is the only free kitchen of its kind in the world, collectively serving millions around the globe each year, regardless of gender, social standing, caste, color, religious affiliation, or beliefs. Through this ideal of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness, and oneness of all humankind.
Inquiries for donations of food and supplies for distribution to the homeless should be directed to Donations@Sikhcess.com or to Mr. Amit Singh at 248-990-1245.
About the Sikhcess™ ‘Feed the Homeless’ Campaign
The Sikhcess™ ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign began in January 2007 in Vancouver, Canada. The campaign’s initial goal was to distribute 15,000 food packages to Vancouver’s homeless population within 12 months. Eventually, North America’s entire Sikh community rallied behind the program, distributing more than 70,000 food packages throughout numerous cities across the United States and Canada in only 11 months.
Through the efforts of this campaign, food packages have been delivered to homeless communities in: Vancouver, BC; Surrey, BC; Toronto, ONT; New York, NY; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Cincinnati, OH; Boston, MA; Newark, NJ; San Francisco, CA; Oakland, CA; San Jose, CA; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, MD; Fairfax, VA; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; and Miami, FL.
Every month, the homeless and needy receive thousands of food packages generously donated by the entire Sikh community. In exchange, Sikhcess™ volunteers receive countless hugs, smiles and a heart-felt “thank you”, many times over. Sikhcess™ thanks all those who contribute to the ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign with their charitable support of time, effort, food, and kitchen facilities.
Inquiries for donations of food and supplies to the homeless should be directed to Info@Sikhcess.com or to Mr. Amit Singh at 248-990-1245.
