Art and Advocacy Unite for Shelter Pets: HeARTs Speak Receives Generous Support from Petco Foundation
Poughkeepsie, NY, October 26, 2016 --(PR.com)-- HeARTs Speak announced today that it has been awarded a generous grant from the Petco Foundation in support of its mission to unite art and advocacy, in an effort to increase the visibility of shelter pets.
HeARTs Speak is a nonprofit organization working to ensure that no shelter animal goes unseen. Since 2010, nearly 600 artist members in 47 states and 19 countries have collectively worked to provide more than 15,000 hours of pro bono creative services each month. Through lifesaving collaboration with shelter partners, HeARTs Speak’s programs impact more than 400,000 shelter animals annually.
The Petco Foundation grant will be used to help to grow and sustain HeARTs Speak’s track record of providing collaborative problem-solving and innovative solutions to the marketing hurdles that face animal shelters and rescues. The organization expects to grow its artist membership program, launch a stock photography site that features shelter pets, and expand the resources and educational tools offered specifically to the animal welfare industry.
HeARTs Speak’s Founder and Executive Director, Lisa Prince Fishler states, “We are so thrilled to be a recipient of the Petco Foundation’s support for another year. Their past investments have enabled us to bring creative services to over 25% of the shelters in the United States. This grant will ensure the continued growth of our existing programs and also allow us to introduce new initiatives aimed at providing resources and opportunities to artists and animal welfare organizations. As HeARTs Speak’s anchor funder, little that we do would be possible without the Petco Foundation.”
HeARTs Speak encourages collaboration between artists and the animal sheltering community, which results in a significant collective impact on animal adoption rates. HeARTs Speak’s members work side-by-side with animal shelter staff and volunteers to provide exposure for animals in need of homes, while also contributing to an overall change in the discourse around pet adoption and the role of animal shelters worldwide.
